Ed Thurman

Edward Thurman

Managing Director, Head of Global Transaction Banking

In November 2017 Ed was appointed as Managing Director, Head of Global Transaction Banking within Commercial Banking. The Global Transaction Banking business serves all client groups within Commercial and Retail Business Banking, through specialist teams across the UK and key international hubs. As well as the provision of key cash management and payments products, the business designs, builds and delivers propositions to support clients’ broader working capital needs including Trade and Supply Chain Finance and Asset and Invoice Finance.

Ed joined Lloyds Banking Group in August 2008 as a Director in Group Corporate Development. He was responsible for the development and formulation of the Group’s corporate strategy and was a member of the team that led the Group Strategic Review. Immediately prior to his current role Ed spent five years as Managing Director, Financial Institutions, a client unit created at the inception of the Commercial Banking business to create deeper institutional focus on this segment, and to best harness emerging industry trends to our benefit.

After completing a degree in Economics, Ed began his career at the Bank of England before moving to the Financial Services Authority at its formation in 1998. He has also held senior strategy roles at Bear Stearns and ABN AMRO and before this spent five years with McKinsey & Company, consulting across the industry but with an emphasis on Wholesale Banking clients.

In addition to his management responsibilities of the GTB business, Ed is also the Group’s Regional Ambassador for London and Commercial Banking’s Executive Sponsor for Disability.
