James joined the Group in September 2009 to manage capital markets and portfolio management; these businesses work in partnership with the relationship management teams to deliver financing and risk management solutions to clients of Lloyds Bank.
James has worked in financial services for 25 years. In 2005, he was made a partner at Goldman Sachs, establishing an investment grade origination and syndication business unit within its financing group.
In 1999, he was recruited by Goldman Sachs into their fixed income group and ran the sovereign, supranational and agency debt business for three years. A year before that, he worked at West-LB AG as Managing Director of Debt and Equity Businesses in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Joining UBS in 1988, he was head of bond origination and derivative marketing for financial institution and sovereign clients, having started his banking career with Citicorp in 1987.
James graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in civil engineering and is a Trustee of multi-cause charitable enterprise, In Kind Direct.
